Extended Submission Deadline!
The Georgia Outdoors Nature Photography Contest submission deadline has been extended.
As you may or may not have noticed, Georgia Public Broadcasting has launched a new website. Unfortunately, that website launch made it difficult for Georgia Outdoors to post our Annual Nature Photography Rules and Regulations until very recently. Therefore, Georgia Outdoors will be extending the submission deadline for the contest until the end of January!
We strongly encourage each and everyone one of you to submit your photo(s) for judging in our contest. And tell your friends. Each year we feature three photographers on Georgia Outdoors: The Grand Prize Winner and the First and Second Place Winners on a Georgia Outdoors television. We also feature many of the photographs submitted by all of our talented runners-up.

This Week on Georgia Outdoors
Any weekend throughout the year offers plenty of outdoor recreation opportunities in Georgia. Mild winters and long springs and falls invite Georgians to do everything from rafting and hiking to hunting and fishing.
Join us for A Georgia Outdoors Guide to Never Spending a Weekend at Home. We'll explore outdoor activities month by month for Georgians and our visitors. For example, in January, you can visit Sky Valley in North Georgia and learn to snow ski and the next weekend cycle with the Coastal Bicycle Touring Club on the warm coast! March offers both the chance to hunt a turkey, and to raft the Chattooga River. But don't forget fishing and camping. Once the weather heats up, we'll tell you where to go diving one weekend and caving another. And if you've never gone birding, we'll show you what you've been missing and how many places there are to bird in Georgia.
September offers lots of hunting opportunities and Georgia is rich in public fishing areas where you can "wet a hook" all year long. The cooler weather of November offers clear night skies for star gazing and in December you can skip the malls and participate in the Partners in Flight Christmas Bird Counts. So, be careful, if you watch this program, you'll have no excuse to stay at home!

Tonight on Georgia Outdoors
Have you ever wanted to live the life of a wildlife biologist? Georgia Outdoors profiles a few groups of average citizens who are making a difference by helping to keep track of wildlife populations.
We'll start at the Colonial Coast Birding Festival, a gathering of hundreds of bird watchers who converge on the coast every year to explore the aviary wonders of coastal Georgia. Attendees also learn some techniques in documenting and tracking bird populations.
Next, we'll follow an energetic young group of Citizen Scientists-in-training as they participate in Georgia's Annual Youth Birding Competition.
Plus, we'll feature bird and butterfly counting and participate in the Charlie Elliot Wildlife Center's Dragonfly Identification Program. You won't want to miss this action packed program!
